Kevin Mitnick is unarguably the most famous hacker in the world. He came to global recognition as a teenager when he stole computer manuals from Pacific Bell in 1981 and got sued to court for the act.
Kevin’s life inspired the popular Hollywood rendition, War Games. He has served time in prison on multiple charges of wire and computer fraud.
- Kelvin Poulsen
Poulsen is equally one of the most dangerous hackers in the world with bucket load achievements that buoy his legend even more. He was formerly a black hat hacker known as Dark Dante and hacked into the United States Department of Defense at 17.
- Robert Morris
Robert Morris created the first computer worm and ended up initiating the first DDOS attack which affected over 6000 computers.
He was prosecuted for the crime but took almost a year for the prosecutor to prove his intentions.
He is currently a Professor at MIT and Co-Founder of YCombinator.
- Evgeniy Mikhailovich Bogachev
Evgeniy is also considered one of the world’s most dangerous hackers and the leader of a notorious cybercrime ring which created the Gameover Zeus virus that earned him over $100 million.
He has been on the FBI’s list of most wanted criminals since 2009.

A new-age Robin Hood who takes from the rich and gives to the less privileged. He’s a 27 year old Algerian famed for hacking over 217 banks and got away with over $4 billion. He’s also popular for donating the proceeds of his hack to NGOs in Africa, with over $280 Million going to a Palestinian NGO paid for from one of his hacks.
